Family move into their dream three-storey home in Cardiff

A couple from Cardiff have moved up to the home of their dreams thanks to the government backed Help to Buy Wales scheme at Lovell Homes’ The Mill development.

Carys, 34, and Adam Edinborough, 36, along with their 17-month-old daughter, recently moved into their new property at the popular development in Canton, Cardiff.

Searching for a new build property with three-stories as they await the arrival of their second child, the couple came across The Mill development as it is a few streets away from the Crafty Devil brewery, which Adam co-owns.

The Mill is a new community in an extremely desirable riverside location, close to the city centre. The popular development is home to 800 contemporary properties, varying from one-two-bedroom apartments and two-four-bedroom houses.

Three-storey homes at The Mill, up to the value of £300,000, are available to purchase with just a 5% deposit using the Government backed Help to Buy Wales scheme. The remaining amount is made up of a 75% mortgage and a 20% equity loan.

The couple, who are expecting a baby boy in July, purchased the stylish three-bedroom Birchwood at The Mill which offered them lots of room over three floors. This contemporary home has a modern open plan kitchen/dining room opposite a spacious living room with a balcony and Juliet balcony on its first floor, with all three bedrooms on the second floor – perfect for the soon to be family of four.

This magnificent home has three bedrooms, with a family bathroom and a master bedroom offering a luxurious en-suite. There is also a utility room, cloakroom and storage space on the ground floor, complete with a garage, providing the family plenty of space to store toys, pushchairs and highchairs for the little ones.

Having previously lived in Pontcanna, the couple were keen to remain close to their jobs in Cardiff whilst moving to an area that offered excellent schools for their children. They hope to send their children to Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna, which is a popular primary school located next to the development.

The Mill offered the young family excellent quality and affordable housing in an area they had fallen in love with. The family also really enjoy taking their daughter to the number of parks nearby to the development.

Adam, co-owner of Crafty Devil brewery, said: “The Birchwood design is exactly what we were looking for, we love the layout of our home and the amount of space it offers us.

“We love that Canton has so many independent businesses to offer, which gives it a lovely community feel and I’m really excited for our family to settle down here.”

Carys, programme coordinator at Cardiff University, added: “We were really keen on buying a new build property with our baby on the way, we didn’t have time to refurbish anywhere. It was great to move straight in without worrying about any renovations and minimal decorating.

“The team in the sales office and the site manager were brilliant, they always went above and beyond during the entire process”.

The family intend to remain in their new Birchwood home for years to come and have no concerns about outgrowing their three-storey space due to its flexibility.

Current availability at The Mill includes a selection of four different three-storey houses, with three or four bedrooms, priced from £280,000.
